Trimming The Fat

I thought I had done such a good job weeding out bad television (and by bad, I mean shows I was still watching even though I no longer cared). Then, I looked at the updated list of shows I watch and am wondering if I have lost my mind - go ahead, insert your own joke here.

You probably don't like a lot of the shows I watch and I'm OK with that. Though I really wish some of you would get on board with them so I could talk to someone about it! I didn't even list the random reality shows I find myself watching when there's a marathon (um, "Real Housewives," I'm talking to you!).

I don't really have a point of this post. Just thought I was making progress on that whole TV thing. Oh, and I've whittled my Netflix queue to 480 movies. That's actual progress. I've been watching at least one movie a week - a MAJOR improvement from the six months those DVDs collected dust! The problem with that: I keep adding movies. Yes, it's a sickness. No, I don't need help.

Just maybe a good flu to give me some time to get caught up on things.

Sign I'm Getting Old?

This morning, I was trying to read the newspaper (I actually still do that most days). It was nice and quiet in my house. Then, something caught my eye. I saw something that was blue and red rise over the fence. I walked to the back door and saw it was one of those inflatable water slides. I thought it was strange, since I believe there's school this week and figured no one would use it. Imagine my surprise when ten minutes later, a group of teenage girls were on the slide, screeching like they were at a Jonas Brothers concert or something. It has been going on for two hours now (aren't they tired, sore or sunburned?). I took a picture on the sly - didn't want them to call the cops. This is what I see from one of my windows.
PLEASE tell me they won't start this on Saturday at 8AM! I'm kind of afraid I'm turning into Mr. Wilson from "Dennis the Menace!" I'm wondering if this is even allowed by my HOA? Darned kids!

Clumsiness Strikes - AGAIN!

Tuesday, I did something most people do every day - bump into something. While I'm used to these mystery bruises I get from hip checking myself on a sharp edge, or swinging my arm into a door frame, this one was different.

I was picking up something next to a chair in my living room, when I got too close to it. I accidentally kicked the leg of the chair. See the offending piece of furniture?
I'm sure you're surprised to know that I shouted a few expletives immediately after my toes met the wooden leg. Then, I wiggled my toes (some of which were numb), but figured it was no big deal. I've done that before. Then, I put on my sandals and took Charley for a walk. I was actually glad he is a slow walker. Every step hurt. If I had to walk fast, I don't know what I would have done. When we got home, I changed into my sneakers and went to work. Within two hours, the toe was throbbing, so I took off my shoe and sock and was surprised to see my middle toe turning purple. I hobbled through the day, came home, had some wine and went to sleep. When I woke up this morning, *this is what I saw:
That middle toe is a fine shape of reddish purple - merlot, maybe? It hurts. It may be broken, though I'm not going to waste my insurance money to get an x-ray since there's nothing you can do for a broken toe. I'll survive.

*Note: I know my toes are in need of a pedicure. The last thing I want to do right now is touch that toe! I'll tend to it when it returns to its normal color!
