There are some things about my home state of Texas that confuse me. One of them is the pronunciation of things. A small town near my hometown called Refugio is tricky. You see, it looks like it would be pronounced ruh-FYOO-he-oh. Instead, the townfolk say ruh-fyur-ee-oh.
Today, the boss settled one dispute. Our question was how to pronounce San Jacinto. Here are the options: san juh-sin-toe or san ha-ceen-toe. He chose the first pronunciation. The explanation: we won that battle.
Quite possibly the best answer I've heard for that one!
